It is just a start and will develop over time as will the hotel and what we offer as we settle in and improve it.
A chance event led us to the Black Bear Hotel. We took over the Black Bear in October 2012. There has been a hostelry here for 300 years. The Black Bear Hotel dates from the 18th-century. It replaced the original Bear Hotel, which burned down in the Great Fire of Wareham on Sunday 25 July 1762.
We serve good, home cooked dishes made wherever possible from locally sourced produce. We serve a selection of real ales and lagers, and a choice of good wines and spirits, all at reasonable prices.
The beer garden at the rear is heated and can be used as a smoking area if desired. There is a small but very cosy television lounge.
The restaurant to the front of the building has a bar next to it that caters for dining guests. There is a good size function room and we run weekly music and other events.
There is a games area for adults and children.
We are a local Wareham family and are creating a family-friendly atmosphere where people can relax, but also have fun and enjoy themselves. Well behaved children and dogs are very welcome.
We are local to the Purbeck Hills, the world famous Jurassic Coast an SSSI and are central to Poole, Dorchester and Swanage - all places steeped in history, with bespoke shops as well as many outdoor pursuits including sightseeing, walks, cycling, water sports etc.
